Main gym
Under 15
Under-15s must climb accompanied by a responsible adult.
Exception · students
Under-15s enrolled on our courses can climb unaccompanied if they have express authorisation from a parent or legal guardian. Both conditions must be met: being enrolled on a course is not enough on its own.
Aged 15 to 17
Minors aged 15 to 17 who come without a responsible adult need signed consent from a parent or legal guardian.
Why this exception
Our students are trained in safety rules, behaviour in the gym and how to climb responsibly. That's why, with their family's express authorisation, they can climb unaccompanied outside their classes.
This rule doesn't remove the requirement for under-15s who aren't Urban Boulder students to be accompanied.
Digital form
Type A
For an Urban Boulder student under 15 to climb unaccompanied outside their classes. It collects details of the minor and the parent or legal guardian, confirmation that they're a student, express authorisation and acceptance of the safety rules. It's only valid once we've verified they're a student.
Type B
Consent from a parent or legal guardian to access without supervision by a responsible adult. It collects details of the minor, the legal representative and their express authorisation.
Safety
The form will be activated once we have private, secure storage. Authorised staff will be able to check whether an authorisation exists, which minor it was issued for, who granted it, which type it allows, the date and version of the terms accepted and whether it's valid or revoked.
A minor can never authorise themselves by ticking a box: validation from a parent or legal guardian is always required. In the meantime, arrange the authorisation at reception during staffed hours.
Urban Boulder Eskola
During courses, instructors supervise the students and families don't stay inside.
During open climbing, all children must be accompanied and closely supervised by a responsible adult.
